Q's New Era Hachiroku Ryan's SW11

Past Projects

In the fall of 2001 Ryan and I started assembling and modifying cars together.  All started in different forms, some from scratch, others from near full build requiring only tweaking and tuning.  Nevertheless, all of these cars have been ours… we have a tendency to go through a lot:  lots that never even made mention here, and some that I spent hours writing and thinking about.  It is some form of A.D.D…. really.  In the first few years after we teamed up, neither of us managed to make it through a single season with one car.  They came and went. Mostly it was because we liked to dream, but it was also partly because there was always someone willing to buy.  Cash just looks so good.

Note: These charts are for fun.  Don’t confuse them for us being hard core and bad ass.  Check it out.

Yay for a short break from wheels. Winter has come and I finally got a chance to try the IS300 out on the ice. My expectations for the car were not high. It is a great daily driver, and from what I have experienced on the street, very well balanced and behaved. However, on glare ice with Subaru’s breathing down […]

Driving Rear Wheels Only

You know the car is only so interesting to drive, when I’d rather play with the camera. This is my Canon sitting on a bench with exposure time set to 8.0 seconds, me pushing the button then walking into the frame. Looks like photoshop but feels like magic. That said, for the sake of trying to get my wife interested […]

… and moving things to the hard drive. My shop is full of all sorts of home-brew contraptions: some of which were never useful, some of which fulfilled their purpose and now sit tucked in a corner waiting for future opportunity. Amongst that pile was an old splitter from my WRX. Although the car is now gone, I had saved […]

Cleaning Out The Garage…

I’m occasionally rolling around in this thing these days. When our family hauler GD Impreza bit the dust, it was something I stumbled upon for a good price, and despite understanding that it wasn’t quite the practical family vehicle that our Impreza had been, I assumed I could convince my wife to like the Lexus name, and the low number […]

Other Vehicles

I have heard anecdotes about arranged marriages that result in true love. I believe those stories. I do not mean to imply a belief that all arranged marriages can result in true love. I merely accept the idea that the act of loving can result in a feeling of love. I also accept that many arranged marriages likely result in […]

Leaving a Legacy

The Solo season is essentially over, it snowed yesterday and leaves are starting to turn. Winter is almost here, and I’m trying hard not to demonstrate the symptoms of being sick in the head. My FRS is ok, but I want another car: a real Subaru. When I owned this car, I acknowledged that it was the greatest car I […]
