Check In

falldrive04There have been some niggles.

1.  Wire RSO had a loose connection at the ECU plug, occasionally tripping a code 33 CEL, preventing the idle speed control valve from closing, and causing a high idle.
2. 195/60 Azenis are way bigger than the 185/60 Dunlop’s of 2010.  Fender massage and zip tie work has been needed to minimize rubbing, although parking maneuvers can still create strong interference.
3.  Oil cooler lines and fittings were leaking slightly at the sandwich plate.  Shoulda taped them first.
4.  There is a minor coolant leak at my bypass pipe.  It’s a nuisance more than an actual issue: a couple hours of hard driving will take the coolant reservoir from full to low.  Good hose clamps that won’t deform the pipe they are clamping will resolve this.

And with all that looked after… rad car.  The Azenis need a very different set up than the Dunlops did, as far as alignment and pressures, and unfortunately I haven’t had enough track time to really get it dialed in.  The 20V feels much stronger than the small port did, and it makes much better noises.  I want to get on the scale to see if I’m finally under 900kg.

Some personal stuff makes me wonder if I’ll keep the car around, but if I do… some tighter gears and cams are next in line.  I’ll probably step away from 14’s as well… although whether I’ll go up or down in size is a real question.
