We stopped at the Speedtech Show and Shine and Summer Sale yesterday. Speedtech still does it best. Great shop. Toma was there with his dyno and we we strapped Ryan’s SW11 down for a few runs. How does 300.9hp sound? Pretty good to me. I really need to show you more of that car.

Power

Not Love Hate…

As I said, the ZJ left us stranded on Saturday night. Last winter, on the coldest of days I had observed a charging problem. It seemed the alternator couldn't keep up with the heater, and defrost, and tunes and the like. It never left us anywhere, but when it gone down to -30 or so I was definitely weary. In the summer... it wasn't really something that I was keeping an eye on. I guess I knew that I had to do something about it before winter hit again, but it turns out I wouldn't get that far. And so... since ultimately I like our ZJ, I fixed it right.

Finally

1. I picked up AE92 skirts like 5 years ago. They suck. Trimming around your door looks wrong, and they are SHALLOW. 2. AE86 skirts are $$. 3. AW11 skirts aren't that easy to come by, but they are a lot more likely to run into than AE86 stuff, and they are cheap. That is what's pictured here. I'm not entirely sold though. Painting them black would probably help me decide. .

Toyota had love for the W Transmission. Various versions were used over 34 years of production. That is sick! And it means there are tonnes of variations and gearsets available for us to potentially play with and perhaps make a real close ratio gear box. Well... almost... or so it appears. First of all... I couldn't find solid documentation on the early W4X and up to W52 transmissions, but they look to offer additional ratios that may or not be helpful. How those ratios would play out with W55 or 58 input shaft ratio's though was unclear. Someone is going to have to pull one apart and figure it out. [...]
