19000rpm – Boom!

Auto-x last night didn’t go especially well. The car went home on a tow truck. The transmission was wonky all night. I kept missing second gear, going up from 1 and down from 3. This was a frustrating thing… coasting really isn’t good for time. I went off HARD on my fourth run, when I got distracted by something stupid. As a result, my times weren’t where I wanted. Despite everyone saying they were gonna run streets tonight, it ended up being only me, Robin, Ambrose and Dave. Dave schooled me hard in his DSP Celica also on 712’s, and Ambrose was really good too on Azenis. Suck.

In the end… the tranny blew on one of Andrew’s runs. I don’t really understand such things, but for the time being, there are no gears. We also experienced 75kph in 1st gear and… ?? 19000 rpm ?? That’s not good. With cylinder 3 dead already (40psi on the comp test), and blue puffs here and there… this could be the brutal end of the original powerplant. Stay tuned.
