Running the GZ20 on the Road Course

The CSCC put together a post season solo event today, and though the 86 is stashed away, we did manage to get the Soarer out. We got together Thursday night to go over a few things, and drop the car down to track height. It can go really low.

I didn’t do any driving, as I’m a beanpole and don’t fit great. Less than good driving position, and sitting on the wrong side of the car was enough to keep me out of the drivers seat given my post-season frame of mind. But Ryan definitely flogged it. Power on the straights seems reasonable, and the car showed limited body roll while still doing quite well over the bumps. Big cars like this are something new to us, and we were surprised first, by how loose it was even with 20mm wider rear tires, and second by how predictable it was. Even in the passenger seat, you can feel the edge. Without LSD it’s tough to control once the back speeds up, but Ryan was chucking it hard into turn three.

So now once the snow falls again, this car will also be stashed away next to the 86. Stay tuned. We’ve got winter plans.
