It’s time. My ’86 has been mostly reassembled and only awaits a wheel alignment and insurance. Most of what I had planned over the winter never happened. What else is new. I have however, spent the last week ripping the suspension apart to replace bushings and balljoints. Very good. I’ve also removed the EGR completely, replacing the crushed piping with a nice plate. Shortly, I plan to install my electric fans, as well as remove PS, but I want to be driving the car before these mods, so that I can appreciate a difference afterwards. I’ve also got plans for some more bracing, and maybe even a cage within the next couple months… assuming I figure out that I’m going to be staying in Canada for the next while.
My father kindly fixed the timing belt on the 92 for me. (I stashed it in his lot, and he probably got sick of seeing it.) I’ve picked up a couple little things for that car, in preparation of selling it. It wasn’t much when I got it, and it’s only a little better now, so the price will be reasonable. Maybe your interested? I sold my SSR MK2’s (boo) since money has been really tight, which means I’m running on only street tires, for at least a little while. Maybe I’ll be so fast this year I won’t need R’s…. hehe.
The GZ still sits with a lot needed… and rear end parts scattered all over the floor. It’s amazing that we didn’t touch the cars even once all winter. Coolant flush, boost gauge install, new tires mounted… and LSD sourced and fitted are a few of the things in store here. This Saturday, like last, will likely be entirely devoted to our machines.
