I saw a friend driving his 86 on the road yesterday. This guy may be the ultimate hard working dude when it comes to 86… cause the car was UGLY when it started out. His car was acutally a car that I owned last fall, and considered hauling away to the scrap yard. It was rusty, beat, bent and ran like terd. An enthusiastic guy bought it though. That guy became unenthusiastic, and sold it to my friend, who really is eternally enthusiastic. (I am not so enthusiastic)
The point was… seeing this guy out at drifting events tearing it up, seeing his car make big steps in short periods of time… what a motivation that is. I was a little sad about my lack of 86 involvement lately (i.e. it’s all in my private dream world).
Through Yoshiko I’ve spoken briefly with one enthusiastic 86 driver in Japan. Not much has been said, but skill and enthusiasm about drifting has been observed, and it’s somewhat surprising. Through him, many of my thoughts about 86 have changed, though I’m unsure where I will follow. It’s too late to be original… and considering all that surrounds me now… it’s time to be practical.
Although I have talked extensively about power up, that may not be practical at this point.
