Things happen that make me want to sell my car and give up this life. A difficult drift practice on June 01, whose consequences I have been dealing with this week, a saturday wedding and a beautiful girl, a shattered clutch disc, a smoking engine. Work becomes overwhelming, and I’ve made some promises that I can’t keep.
That said… I drove my car again today, and it makes me happy. Between my Dad, Andrew and I, we dropped the tranny and installed my illegal garage clutch and AE101 flywheel. The noises heard seem to have been chunks of the old clutch disc banging around in the bellhousing. The inability to shift and find a gear… because the clutch was in pieces. The motor does however, smoke severely upon start up, but calms down after warming up. It feels dramatically low on power now. Not fun.
Speedtech set me up with a set of 195/60 Falken Azenis, and I’ve installed those on the SSR Star Sharks I got through Importconcern. I waited long and patiently for these wheels and was very pleased with there condition and fit. However… on the car I’m a little disappointed. These wheels look busy. I miss the simple look of the Konigs.
The car will be at DTP for Saturday, which will be a stretch because I have a long day at work ahead, and there is still grass and weeds wedged in little places from my last off at the CSCC auto-x. The next auto-x is next Wednesday. That’ll be fun… but otherwise… this stuff is not on my mind. I’d rather write about other stuff… but I won’t.
It’s dumb that I lost my camera… because there should be pictures of the old clutch disc and new wheels.
