GDA

02.07.2015 – I sold the car in October 2014 after picking up my FRS, but Andrew has since recovered it.  His vision is somewhat different than mine though, so between mending various injuries and adding his own flare, the car transforms.

Lame how I can’t leave well enough alone.  Once raped, always a whore.  It was supposed to stay stock, or at the worst an ultra light tune.  It is now the least street able car I have ever tried to street… and it’s all because I was super randy when she was at her most vulnerable.  Taking a 3000lb AWD car with 300hp, big scrub radius, welded diff, ultra light flywheel, heavy clutch and no power steering for groceries, is like taking a girl with beads in her ass out to Olive Garden.

Not that the car looks particularly hard tune, or really is even, but I’ve hit it where it counts.  At least it drives on ice better than anything else I’ve ever driven… and I’ve driven a LOT of cars on ice.

Plan is to pull the beads out and take her to Church.

If you’ve been here more than 10 years this will have meaning.  Otherwise, I’m just trying to be hard.  Between horizontally opposed engines and Pleiades sister’s this joke from over a decade ago has coincidental meaning now that is totally rad.  My wife and sister are disgusted with me… and that’s part of the fun. ツクワドロン=Tsukuwadoronn=Squadron… but I’m a one […]

While replacing wheel bearings, I finally got around to doing a bit of a performance alignment.  With horrible weight distribution and front drive, I’ve been wanting more caster for this car.  Sadly, it is only adjustable with offset bushings, or set back strut top mounts from companies like Whiteline.  They are dollars though.  A poly bushing kit that will do […]

It looks like Tire Rack’s wheel viewer.  They certainly don’t sell Watanabe products now though.  I didn’t think anyone stateside ever did. Doesn’t look so horrible.

…It had better be a real banana, and not a penis in a yellow coat. I scored these on Yahoo. I know that Wats aren’t the original banana spoke wheel, but they are certainly the best. No one else makes a 6.0kg 16 8J wheel. No one else got spoke shapes and lip steps this right. I know these aren’t […]

If You’re Going To Eat Banana…

The wheel search isn’t going so well. So much so, that I’ve almost decided to go with boring Enkei RP01’s again. They’re good light, strong, affordable wheels but it’s pretty hard to love any car that sits on an ordinary five spoke. It’s also pretty hard to find an upgrade for my Speedlines that isn’t already on the Subaru down […]

I’ve been car shopping. Having gone back to the Scion dealership and spent a little more time with ZN6, I’ve decided that’s not where I’m going. New impressions weren’t quite what they first were one year ago. The car still drives and handles fantastic. In stock form it really does react and drive the way I want a car to. […]
