Rally-x again yesterday. Andrew’s BC6 is coming nicely. STRD threw on his CES 3″ turbo back on Thursday (we were never going to get around to it) and some tune-up parts were added by us on Saturday. It didn’t like rev’s much before, and we always ended up shifting way before the limiter… but now, it sneaks up fast, and you wish it would rev higher.
It’s really a good car.
As far as I’m concerned, it still needs a little of work before it will become fantastic… but slow and steady is best.
One of these things would be better rubber. Studs are so important for rally-x, and there is a visible difference watching cars on course, between those with studs and those without. The difference being that unstudded cars always end up on a certain line because the ice pushes them out no matter what.
That aside… I’m really happy with my result. It could have been even better if I didn’t have to fight with 16 year old ABS… and… if I was a little quicker thinking. With a good center diff… the hand brake really can go a long ways to slowing you down when fighting stupid computers.
I bonked on my best run and slid through the stop box when I had stopped easily on other runs.
Andrew? Well… Andrew just flat out bonked, which is a shame because… he does some magical things. My call… he’s pushing really hard, which means some sections end up magical… and others end up way off line.
My two best runs… were my last two, when I realized I needed to slow down and just be clean.
