I wanted to do a lot, but I’m really not finding time/energy to get out to the garage. I have at least, ordered new tires. The Azenis are still good, I just wanted something shorter… obviously really really badly. I’ll save the Azenis for a new Showa Toyota daily. All the AE86 guys in Japan run 185/55 14 Federals or Yokohamas, and I went with the Federals because the are almost half the price of the Yoko’s, and according to Masaharu feel better. 185/55 will cut more than an inch off my rolling diameter, which is nice because the 195/60’s really didn’t work with my wannabe Shakotan car. I checked clearances before spending $350 on the Federals and found that my Azenis were contacting my quarters hard enough after only 1/2″ of bump that I could not rotate them by hand. No wonder the car never felt as fun. Oddly I barely ever heard rubbing. The narrower 185’s should get me full travel, and if not, the baseball bat is ready for action.
Other stuff in the works… I want to build a new exhaust, just because I realized how behemoth and bland my current one is. It’s also not that quiet. Tomei has released a low rpm grind 20V cam that really intrigues me. Others have seen 20+ hp gain on the dyno with it while maintaining the stock computer. That sounds like a wicked place to spend my money. Until it was released, my plan was polycarbonate windows and other diet stuff.
