I’m pretty much the only guy who has this fantasy… and it may not be a fantasy for much longer, as I am looking at the size of my wallet thinking about how to make it a reality.
I bought a WRX because I could… and because at the time, I thought I wanted 300hp and turbo tunability. I’m not so sure now… especially when I realize that I’m nothing more than a backroad terror. I’d rather have 200hp, instant response and an anvil for a right foot… and that means that now I wish I had bought a 2.5RS.
And I wish that so much, that I even went and looked at a GD 2.5RS this week. Naturally aspirated Impreza’s are less than half the cost of turbocharged ones. I could find myself a decent amount of money for mods by trading down. Probably not enough for a hardcore NA build… but it might be worthwhile.
Then again… another new to me car would require a decent amount of work to put to par condition, and there are always lots of WRX guys with dead engines looking for replacement EJ20T’s. I best begin on the engine stand though… 2.5 blocks are abundant enough. I do want a 2.5…
Yo as cool as it sounds, a 200hp n/a ej22/ej25 is a hard goal to accomplish without super wads of cash (most definitley not saying your broke) but feasibly its mOre effective for a H6 swap out of a legacy its around your power goal. And its been done quite a few times. Keep up the kyusha way man!! Theres not alot of us left in the world(thats never a bad thing either). Check out ez30 swaps or h6 swaps for more info on rs25 or nasioc.
There’s this neat car nowadays that has a screamer boxer. It’s badged differently by two manufacturers. I think I’ve heard one of them called, Sigh On? and the other is something like, Sue Bar Ooh? You should look into those. I heard they’re neat cars or something.
That’s a billet Subaru shortblock? The heads looks like the usual casting (but probably lots of work on them) but that block… That’s amazing. Any more information?
As a guy who made the move from turbo fun to (now two) non-turbo daily driver Subarus with a bit of suspension work, it is extremely fun and you should do it.
ZN6 is missing a couple axles…
No info on the build at all. Top secret stuff… but yah that block looks like it was carved from a big chunk.
