Does anyone else actually feel the same way as I do about Zenkei red seats?
I hunted for a while trying to find a suitable replacement fabric. DeGreeve Auto Upholstery in Calgary managed to find me something good though. I should note… that auto upholstery places are the places to hit. Forget Fabric land or your grandma’s upholstery store… they leave you feeling empty inside.
Anyways… DeGreeve’s had/has everything I need.
They wanted… $1700 though to do all three seats themselves. If I was to buy the supplies from them though, they were going to charge me $100/yard for the fabric. I was sneaky and wrote down some names though, and found the exact same fabric online for $20/yard… in Canada too.
It’s here, at Crate Designs.
The Chili is… of course not exact, and neither is the brown for that matter. But both are close. Of all that I’ve seen though… Chili looked the best, but be warned if you purchase it, that it is definitely a lot more RED than your faded orange seats, and it incorporates some flecks of burgandy which the stock material does not. Pull your old seats apart though, and you can see the original color preserved in tight folds and crevasses that have never seen the sun. The chili gets really close to that.
PS. I might actually NOT go through with this. Aftermarket buckets are just so much easier.
Go nuts and cover your new bucket with lookalike upholstery. best of both worlds
