When I started driving AE86, over 8 years ago now, I would have said the best part about AE86 life, was the strong sense of community and family among other AE86 owners. Back then, there were maybe 5 or 6 guys in Calgary who drove and loved AE86. Club4ag was tiny, and almost everyone knew everyone else by name. Mind you… all of our cars were pretty boring back then.
Until recently, I had thought that everything had changed. I figured the new popularity of AE86 had brought destruction to the great AE86 community. Now I realize, I was wrong for ever thinking that. I’ve been anti-social, intentionally becoming a hermit of sorts, in effort to avoid the annoying rambles of various people I call newbies who have tried to tell me things like “Japanese spec large ports are mechanically different from ours…”
Recently though, people have changed my mind. Thanks everyone for helping me out and encouraging me.
I listed my car for sale yesterday. This is a result of the idea of a non 4ag powered AE86. I simply have too much invested in the white coupe, as far as motormounts, clutch and flywheel, and LSD to part various things out and replace them with other parts. Considering I have an SR5 lying around with an automatic transmission and a great body, it makes more sense to start this project using that car as a base.
If there is no interest in my coupe… well then… we’ll see. The thought of starting over again with all my footwork, stitchwelding, and body parts is not that appealing. I’m somewhat indifferent.
