Not Selling? Selling?

I’ve received an unusual amount of emails lately, which is especially odd, because I haven’t been writing about car stuff much at all. Generally, emails to me can be summed up as: “I drive AE86 too!” or “Good luck with the turbo install,” or “will you part out your Konig Rewinds?”

Really people… what is up with your sick interest in Konig Rewinds? They’re cookie cutter wheels… everybody has them. Although… I guess the only reason most people are buying 86 these days is usually because they’re wannabe’s looking for an just a glimmer of coolness. Seriously people… there is no reason to buy an 86 these days. They’re old, rusty, underpowered, equipped with archaic chassis. For the same price… or cheaper… buy yourselves an S13 or an R32. The AE86 continues to exist for people who are already so engrossed in the life that they cannot escape. New 86 drivers should not be born. So… stop thinking your Takumi… even he knows the boundaries of his AE86 love.

If you already have an AE86… put something cool on it. Something that not every other AE86 already has. Konig Rewinds aren’t cool. Mine are for drift events only, because I don’t mind them getting bent and beat from offroad escapades and violent moments with tire machines. I’d show you the SSR’s I love… but my camera’s done. I’ve discovered I really love round things. I bought more sets of wheels this year than I bought individual tires. I’ve also got three steering wheels that I switch around to keep me interested. 可笑しいですね。

But… re: the emails. I’m happy. Thanks everyone for the encouragement regarding many things.

My father convinced me not to sell my coupe. He knows how much I love it, but even more, he knows how much I’ve put into it as far as time and money. It’s really not a smart choice, and my temporary need for money will leave me with many regrets later on if I turn and sell it. So it stays… I’ll tough it out. I want a nice car for the winter… but maybe that will have to wait.

Pretty soon there will be snow everywhere… I really need to go shopping.
