My recent find on Yahoo in the end, did not include all the parts required for my uses, so once again I’m looking at options for drivetrain upgrades on my car.  A DCCD swap into a USDM transmission is complicated greatly by a rear transfer drive ratio of 1.1:1 instead of the 1:1 found on the JDM Version 4,5,6 DCCD transmissions.  This essentially requires me to swap the entire transfer case from the JDM transmission to adapt the 1:1 rear transfer drive ratio, and then of course, change the rear axle final drive gear appropriately.  I knew all this, but alas the entire transfer case was not included in my purchase so the search continues..

What are the other options? That’s not entirely clear as most aftermarket differentials (Cusco, KAAZ, PPG?) are built for the JDM casings. A clutch type diff with minimal preload would work well IMO. The KAAZ unit is two way, and hence might interfere with ABS operation, but the Cusco is re-configurable from 2 to 1.5 or even 1 way and even can be set up with different ramp angles. Big bucks though, and I can’t get a proper answer on compatibility.

I will say though, that I drove a GR STI with minor suspension tweaks and the stock DCCD on the lake yesterday and it was a total dream. It did exactly what I wanted under all circumstances, and that has me willing to fight a little bit harder to adapt the Version 4/5/6 DCCD unit to my car.
