Rubbers 2

Dunlop-Direzza-Sport-Z1I’ve never purchased Dunlop tires before.  But I think I will now.

185/60 14 is finally available in a tire classed with the fantastic Kumho MX and Potenza RE-11.  Yes yes, the Azenis RT615 has always been available in 195/60 14.  But that’s a dumb balloon size.  Toyo definitely has it right with their 195/55 sizing… but there is just something so nostalgic and perfect about 185/60 on an AE86… especially when the tire in question is one of this class.

The Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 was just released in the past month.  I don’t know if it’s a good tire or not.  But I’m pretty excited to try them out.

Tracy C was only 0.3s per lap slower than R888’s using Z1’s on his STi for solo1 IIRC. I’ve heard that they last well, work well when cold, and work great in the rain. Can’t go wrong! I co-drove Ian’s IS300 at Namao last fall and was impressed with the tires. I’m happy to see that they released new smaller sizes this year for us folks with smaller cars!
