Five Kicks Seemingly Unbeknownst To The PeopleSix

There are now over 300 wheels posted in the kyusha wheels gallery.  That’s a lot… and maybe I’ve overwhelmed you all.  It’s likely that the slow loading time of the full gallery has overwhelmed your patience… or browser.  A search form will come, but creating such things is not fun.  If you are overwhelmed… then here is a brief summary by me, of the coolest kicks you could EASILY wear on an AE86 that no one (or at least not me or anyone I know) ever has.  Ha.  These are all wheels that are (relatively) available and affordable, and that is why their lack of fitment is such a surprise to me.  I guess this is for you who are comfortable not being clones.

SSR AIM – Three spoke wheels are classic AE86 style, and the AIM does well IMO to avoid any stigma associated with 90’s Mustangs.  It comes in a good variety of 13 and 14″ sizes, typical awesome SSR colors, and isn’t even that expensive because everyone who wants SSR’s wants MK-X or Formula/Reverse Mesh instead.

Bridgestone Potenza – Heh look!  Four spoke wheels that are not MK-2’s!  This Potenza with unknown model name is not difficult to find at all.  Sizes are limited to 6J & 6.5J, but the price is right, and I think they look great.

Renoma Paris – A nice dish type wheel.  These are probably the most expensive and hard to find wheels on this list, but there are currently two sets on yahoo auctions for less than 2 5000円.  Sizing is 15 6.5J +15 only.

Weds Sports RS-5 – A more modern wheel with a good variety of 14, 15 and 16 inch sizes.  Some interesting finishes are available, including raw carbon spokes, and various colors of shells.  That fact that this is a more recent production means there are plenty of examples in good condition available.

Manaray Turbina-S – A true aero wheel that Tsuchiya-san himself used to rock on the Usui touge.  6.5J +16 in 14 or 15 inch diameter is your only size option.
