My car is happening. I left the manifold and turbo with Rob earlier today, and when I stopped by later tonight, he had already started on modifying the manifold. His goal, was actually to have all the hardware in by next weekend. Very impressive.
If you need an update. Back when Ryan and I co-owned this car last year, we began the long process of turbocharging. Well… really we did nothing at all except buy a bunch of parts, and when I purchased the car back from him in February I was left with almost everything to get the car boosting… all that was needed was a bit of fab work to get things on the car. Well… for me that’s a pain in the ass, so up until now, I’ve done nothing except try and get my money back on various bits through ebay. No luck. But now… thanks to an encouraging and enthusiastic guy, the plan is that I will be running the following.
-MSNS 2.2 with stock dizzy and pigtail harness
-IHI RHB-5 Turbo
-Rob Houck SPL Manifold and downpipe
-small FMIC
-SARD BOV (thanks Laurier)
-DSM 450 injectors
All this will go on my very tired stock bluetop for the time being. And once I’m happy with the state of tune… or until things go boom… I’ll switch to the GZE I have hanging around getting rusty. At that time, my AE111 flywheel and Illegal Garage clutch will go in to. Jyaaa.
I’m also on the heavy look out for another third member, and an LSD rebuild kit for my KAAZ unit. After only a year, that unit is hurting. Tsuchiya wasn’t lying when he said rebuild often. It’s not the same anymore… and know it… these problems I’m having now with the stock motor are going to be 10x worse with double the power. メンドクサイ.
Anyways… I’ll do my best. I need to pick up O2 bungs, downpipe flanges and other misc junk ASAP for Rob to work the magic. Hopefully see you on June 01 with boost.
