New Era of Old 2

Yup, it’s still winter. Two cars sit idle through this mess… and there are multiple reasons. Low down cars on stiff springs suck everyday. Hacked up, wing wearing 80’s cars are embarrassing, but don’t even run anways. Brand new cars with squeaky clean assholes like to stay that way.

These are all excuses for things we sometimes don’t want to realize: certain cars are just a lot better than others are

This IS300 continues to be the greatest vehicle I have ever owned. Now with our family for four years, I am trying desperately to retire it from daily use. The wife won’t have it. I have teased her on multiple occasions with opportunities to buy other things… but she continues to want the Lexus.

And so do I…

But I’m really starting to want it in another capacity. AE86 is dead… it’s time for a new era of old light tune cars with personality.

My ties to AE86 were clear. It was my first car, at a young age when I was especially vulnerable to things like Initial D and Hot Version. The AE86 community was my first car posse. No wonder I have struggled so much to move on.

(Not doing anything close to hating on AE86’s here.)

The JCE10… has none of those things going for it, but I’m still deeply in love.

I can never park it and just walk away. Every off ramp driven with the TCS activated, is done with regret. And though it is coming up on twenty years old, and now has 175k km on the clock, it is a car I am never embarrassed by… even when serious serious bling finds its way into neighbouring stalls at business meetings.

The shop is on. I’m in the mood to make this car all MINE.
