How To Make Stock and Slow Interesting 2

x-runner-hsThe idea of using a truck for auto-x is not THAT crazy.  After all… pretty much anything can be made “fast” with enough modifications.  The Tacoma X-Runner pictured here however… is totally stock… and it’s actually very competitive on the national level in HS versus a field of mostly Mini Coopers.

It makes me wonder if the choice to run this truck in HS was purely coincidental and merely a result of some guy loving his truck, or maybe a calculated decision that came from someone just wanting to be different and hypothesizing that the best way to beat a tiny FWD hot-hatch need not be with another tiny FWD hot-hatch.  Either way… huge respect from me.  If motorsports is just a battle of drivers, it’s a whole lot more boring than it needs to be.

    I AGREE!

Even though my intention of running STU was shot down when the club practically told me to go PAX myself in my own PAXing time, I don’t think I’ll let go of the Lancer just yet. Not that I really enjoy the idiosyncrasies of its uniqueness – such as searching for parts and the constant ogling of fanboys – but I don’t want to have to drive the “it” car for a class. Any class!
