In Yokohama today. Thug city. Even in the busy night district of Nagoya (4th biggest city in Japan) I still felt peace walking around. Here… I feel like everyone has eyes on me. This is the multicultural city of Japan, but that hasn’t really meant caucasions. Guys with bling and jeans at their knees. Guys in Nissan Presidents dropped on chrome 19’s backing into crowds of people. Adolescents kicking Macdonalds trays around in back alleys. 14 year old american girls hanging with the wrong crowd.
…get me out of here.
One of Yoshiko’s friends from Calgary will meet us in an hour or so, and hopefully show us a fun time.
Really though… what’s on my mind is meeting Yoshiko’s family tomorrow. I’m nervous, but excited. Nervous about meeting Yoshiko’s family. Nervous about giving a speech at a wedding shower with close to 100 people… but excited about seeing Yoshiko again, excited about finally taking this step, and excited about having the opportunity to meet a lot of people.
Maybe my Japanese will actually start improving.
