Not God Hand 2

Slow.

More lessons from Initial D, although you certainly don’t have to have watched the show to know that this isn’t fast. I’m actually somewhat embarrassed to be showing you this. I only hit one cone all day… but I was just as much of a mess as ever. As embarrassing as it is, it’s actually REALLY fun. Although the car is quite neutral, I’ve decided it’s just my driving that makes it look so unmanageable. And maybe I drive like that to keep things interesting? I don’t drive other peoples cars like that.

Some conclusions and points of improvement:
1.  Try not turning in so hard… the corners where I am tentative/unsure the car stays more planted.
2.  Get on the gas before the rear end is way loose.  Maybe this will transfer some weight to the back keep things planted.
3.  Keep hands on the wheel.  How many times do I lose it and catch it in the wrong place?  I was giving Andrew hell for this the last time he drove my car, but the video proves that I’m doing it to.
4.  Drive like THIS.

In terms of car set up:
1. Five degrees of camber does NOT work in the rain。It’s not a great thing in general, but changing it requires too much of an overhaul to undertake mid-season.
2.  I removed the rear sway bar for this event, and there were hints that this could be a very good thing if I can drive in the right manner.
3.  I’m thinking about converting to 5×100 to run the 15″ Tom’s Rally I have FS.  I won’t of course… but I am shopping for 15’s.  That means by NEXT season I will have found something to match my super kyusha otaku status, and allow me to run 225/45 RS-3’s or R1R’s.  I want to stay on streets for the time being: packing and changing tires at the event is not fun, streets work rain or shine, and when I challenge the Subaru(s?) I don’t want them to have any excuses (for the sake of Takumi’s pride).

Interesting video. I think I will disagree with your first point; you aren’t turning too hard, but going to fast at corner entry.
At the left turn at 1:08, it looks (to me) like the problem is too much speed into the corner — if you had braked more before turning, then you could be full throttle (and fully planted) by the time you were in mid turn. Instead, you had to back off and and get collected halfway through the turn.

you know Murray… that’s not even something I considered! I guess I’ve been thinking that because the car still turns, that wasn’t the case. Will try!
