Andrew and I debate over it frequently… or rather… we discuss it frequently: Why old cars are better than new cars. New cars are better in so many ways… but there is just something about older cars that has sucked us both in.

The truck I spend most of my time in now days, is an 09 Dakota. Great Drivetrain. Worst cockpit ever. I’ve never hated any vehicle so much. I actually have to lean to make shoulder checks, because if I just rotate my head I get a face full of B pillar. Seriously… it’s so close that if I wear a hat, the brim hits the pillar and knocks it off.

Anyways… I stumbled on this tonight, while browsing some AE86 literature.  Pretty sick… and one reason to love not just AE86, but so many old cars with narrow pillars, low belt lines and big windows.  What good is chassis stiffness, if the entire experience of driving is ruined anyways?

hah! I’ve thought about that too. What good is crash protection when they make crashing much more likely? Not to mention the added mass just makes said crashes far more spectacular.
