Past Projects

In the fall of 2001 Ryan and I started assembling and modifying cars together.  All started in different forms, some from scratch, others from near full build requiring only tweaking and tuning.  Nevertheless, all of these cars have been ours… we have a tendency to go through a lot:  lots that never even made mention here, and some that I spent hours writing and thinking about.  It is some form of A.D.D…. really.  In the first few years after we teamed up, neither of us managed to make it through a single season with one car.  They came and went. Mostly it was because we liked to dream, but it was also partly because there was always someone willing to buy.  Cash just looks so good.

Note: These charts are for fun.  Don’t confuse them for us being hard core and bad ass.  Check it out.

yah.  There is a piece missing.  That pretty much confirms Mr. 3SGTE ate something he shouldn’t have.  The important detail of the compression test was cylinder 1 being about 60psi under 2-3-4.  Time for a new heart.  Shoaib at JDM Source has hooked us up with a complete ST205 3SGTE.  He’s pretty much awesome everytime I talk to him, and […]

It’s sweet how the internet is changing.  I really want to start making videos…  Ryan and his son Adrian put this together.  Last auto-x I was joking to Andrew about making a time lapse movie of a day at auto-x.  It would have like 1000 frames of driving to and from the event, 1000 frames of standing around and waiting […]

The Real Wendover

Ryan’s season has been awful… and now it might even be over. With plans to go south of the border often this year, a custom trailer was ordered from Rance Aluminum.  Custom… but it arrived two months later than promised, and even then, wasn’t exactly to the specs ordered.  Ryan would not recommend that you buy your trailer from Rance.  […]

Ryan’s Troubled Season

I had posted a wanted ad for stock injectors, resistor and harness… but I found all those things hiding in the garage today.  Those and a complete small port harness, 3 large port heads, large port intake manifolds and TVIS bits, plus some weird purple injectors which fit the rail and harness, but are unknown to me. The car is […]

Seriously. I’m embarrassed about my recent performances. The car needs to be more business. The JDM bumpers look good. So good. No one has ever looked at an AE86 and said… “but that’d be so rad with USDM bumpers.” No one in Japan has ever said that even. It’s just crazy. But… I think I’m going there anways. I love […]

Big Bumper – Big Wheels

Worst day at auto-x in a long time.  It started out great, with Andrew and I being about as quick as I could hope.  I believe after the morning, I had a scratch time that would have put me second overall (1st place being one STX prepared WRX) and Andrew was about 1 sec back with a clean run, and […]

I really need a polarizing filter to get rid of those reflections from the glass and the shiny hood.

You guys still did awesome! With all the sliding and still managed to get times like that… to me, that is amazing!

well thanks… I don’t think we were trying to slide around though! At the end of the day, I realized that if I just wanted to have fun I should have gone to the DMCC Pro AM. Ha.

I contacted Dunlop today out of curiosity. Word is that a Hoosier A6 operates well at 120 degrees F. We were already at 130 F in the morning. It seems to me that a street tire should run cooler, but I don’t really know. Neither does anyone at Dunlop apparently…

Disappointing. I’m hoping an educated person will get back to me later.

I kind of regret my nostalgic tire sizing… although if I’d bought 225’s I’d probably still be slow but not having as much fun either.

    Hi Q,

I talked to Ryan this past weekend in Saskatoon and he mentioned that you might be attending the ASA regional event at Namao this weekend. Will you be bringing your AE86? Or co-driving Ryan’s MR2?
I registered my FSP 75 Celica and arranged to rent a car trailer to tow the celica to Edmonton, but many parts on the celica failed at last nights soloII event that I will not be able to remedy before the weekend. I’ve been offered a co-drive in an FSP neon so that I can continue to build FSP points for the regional series.
Anyways, since I’m not bringing the celica, and if you are driving your AE86 at the regional event, I can bring my 13×8 +4 wheels and 225/50/13 hoosier A6’s for use on your AE86 (if they’ll fit without getting cut up on fender lips). I can also bring some 205/50/15 hoosier wets on 15×6 +10 datsun 280Z swastika wheels for you to use in case it rains heavily.

    Regards,
    -Dennis

I’m almost disappointed that I won’t get to see what times you’d post with 225/50 hoosiers or 205/50 wets.
Talk about a battle axe and a swinging mace.
