Q's New Era Hachiroku Ryan's SW11

Past Projects

In the fall of 2001 Ryan and I started assembling and modifying cars together.  All started in different forms, some from scratch, others from near full build requiring only tweaking and tuning.  Nevertheless, all of these cars have been ours… we have a tendency to go through a lot:  lots that never even made mention here, and some that I spent hours writing and thinking about.  It is some form of A.D.D…. really.  In the first few years after we teamed up, neither of us managed to make it through a single season with one car.  They came and went. Mostly it was because we liked to dream, but it was also partly because there was always someone willing to buy.  Cash just looks so good.

Note: These charts are for fun.  Don’t confuse them for us being hard core and bad ass.  Check it out.

Rally-x today. I told Andrew that if I beat him I’d be happy. I always downplay my cars. Truth is, the Pulsar has 100hp more, and studded tires, which probably did a whole bunch on a couple major ice spots on the course. Both of us had a lot to learn about driving. The morning runs were full of ugliness… […]

Gravel FTD

Gearing up for rally-x tomorrow. Installed some Sparco mudflaps, and gave the undercarriage a second coating of rubber. It's amazing how much those two things quiet the car down on an ugly road. The front mudflaps are a pretty hard tune set up though. They're only about 1cm off the ground which means they rub and scrape everywhere. I should have put them a little bit higher, but I want the most efficiency out of them. I'm not into rock chips. They stick about 1" from the body, front and back. The rear ones don't have to do so much more to protect the car though. There's basically no rear over hang. I also didn't want the rear ones low, because they can get caught in the tire and ripped off when backing up, a lot easier than the fronts can. So as you can see... the rear ones sit a lot high, which somehow helps create a raked look. [...]

Rally-x Tomorrow

RNN14 was out of commission for a couple days while I waited for a new outer tie-rod end. Took a couple tries to get the right part… finally went to Brasso and learned that 95 Sentra’s share the same tie-rod ends. Easy fix. Car is back together. It snowed on the 27th… hard. With studded KW19’s my car is monstrous, […]

All-Weather Monster Born

Something is loose on the front of the N14… which makes me sad. Feels like a wheel bearing. I need to learn a lot about this car. It has begun to grow on me though. The attention I received on the road the first few days of driving that car, seems to have been an anomaly. Either that… or I’m […]

Back Road Attack

This week sucked, and the weekend was the most tiring I’ve had in a while. F the internet flakes. Sunday night and I’m sitting at home waiting for another internet buyer (who I did a lot of work for). Karma? My 86 is still around. I have nothing to say about that, except that I had hoped it would go. […]

Too Much Car for Now

DawnThe new car is here. RHD is messed up... at least that's my initial impression. The car feels bent all crooked, and the wipers don't stop. I'll be relearning driving for a little bit, but I have no worries that I'll catch on. Many of my friends have been driving rhd cars for years now. There are a few disappointment with the car... that are probably a result of my hurried purchase. Nothing major yet. But everything is magnified due to the fact that this is a brand new car to me. Familiarity is valuable. Little things and gadgets that only experience can get you through will surely cause a few curses.[...]
